"The one that makes your time convenient in any period of your life-FRIEND."Convenient in sense of generation in Happy, Feasible(during any works, hard times), Trustful, Safe environments. This is the sum-total summary of my idea about friendship. Lets discuss about the vast knowledge of friends, friendship and the role of technology in friendship.
Disclaimer: This writing is a two way observation about friends and friendship. You probably might spot ideas totally opposing you. So, be ready in to observe any twists on the writing.
Background:
Google says “The word “friend” originated from the Old English frēond, meaning “one who loves” or “one attached to another by feelings of personal regard”.” My point of view states that this concept of friend originated from pre-historic period, far ago from stone age.
During the stone age, people were totally dependent upon their hands and the stones in their hands(either in form of weapon or raw stone). So, the risk always maintained as if the clouds on the blue in a rainy day. Risk during the hunting of the wild or during any natural calamities. These risk were death inviting ones. Considering it our ancestors got united to from a cooperative. The same cooperative is later called as community, society, organization, company or cooperative itself. By this time, people had united for their own Rational Selfishness. This sort of association included urgency of survival.
My View:
By the contrast, the association of organism not only for survival, but for happiness as well as trust. This holy association engages with emotion of every single organism of this globe. This association includes trust, understanding and care. This is the definition of IDEAL FRIENDSHIP
But in the real-life friendship, all the conditions of the ideal friendship is not really applicable. Some extent of selfishness exists. I will give an example through a average friendship. In every group of friends; all the members have resembling ideology. Despite of different external factors viz. family background, gender, economic status, tradition etc. friends in the group have slightly resembling mindset. The similar mindset leads to similar requirement. At last, friends have similar requirements as well as similar mindset. There occurs the probability of creation of selfishness.
We had normal overview about the friendship. Concluding we can state a association of people for minimal rational selfishness, trust, understanding etc. is Friendship and all the people associated in the association are just referred as Friends.
Here comes the twists again. This all the description were applicable to the relation in the primitive age. By this age we have technology that have affected every relation. You may have some contradictory idea. For it I will provide a simple example in order to describe this idea. During the stone age people used to spend their time with each other; hunting together, collecting foods together etc. The children either used to spend their creative time with each other(I preferred to state it creative because we have this technology due to that creativeness). On the contrary, the time now is majorly spent over technology.
Effect of Technology:
Technology seems to have affected the human relation. Nowadays people have started to use technology as a medium of making friends. Technology will get both positive as well as negative impact in human relation. Relation as a friend or family or relatives.
Pros: Technology affects the human relation. Some ways I can observe the technology in positive ways are:
- Advancement in technology has brought people close. Through various modes of communication (social media) people have got more time to engage with each other.
- Development of virtual games has also promoted friendship. It generates more virtual friends. It also promotes international friends.
- Technology gives human high number of chances to create a better communication. Through the use of emojis, AI and commas the chats are more elaborative.
- From technology, people are able to create and become active in any sort of network. The network further emphasizes the prosperity of human relation.
Cons: From my point of view, technology also affects human relation in negative manner. Some ideas that I posit are:
- Due to development of various communicating medium the human relation has been more complex.
- Games had increased the virtual engagement time and the friendship has transferred more into virtual and invisible world rather than material as well as trustworthy environment.
- Chats have become more complex. People get more chance to modify their real message. This facility provides people to show their fake side.
- Technology enhances the various emotions that arises between the friends. For instance ‘Instagram’s’ algorithm promotes negative reels during a short anger between the relation between the friends.
- There is no negative impact if increasing network.
Looking ahead:
I assist human relation can never be pure. It will never be pure unless it is the relation is of a parent and a child. But this also involves exception. So, friends and friendship have different extent of purity. This purity has significantly altered through the time. By the time, technology has significantly developed and it has directly affected this holy relation- Friends.
